New Approach for WASH in Naitasiri

The Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation (RPW) will be implementing water projects in various communities in the Naitasiri province in future with generous financial assistance under the New Zealand Government Assistance Programme. Vatunilose and Waisa settlements are the first two communities identified for this exercise.

Prior to every implementation, a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) training was carried out to ensure that the communities were well versed with aspects on WASH. This would ensure a decrease and elimination of the risk of having water, food and vector bone illnesses.

In the last two weeks, a Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) training was conducted in the Waisa and Naitasiri settlements. A lot of support was received  from government stakeholders at district level as well as the communities .

RPW will be using the PHAST approach in all communities in Naitasiri. The approach increases participation and self identification of problems within the communities.
